Dear Concerned Citizen,

Prior to 1971 if you were a parent of an individual with disabilities in eastern Montana you had few options other than sending your loved one to be warehoused at the state institution at Boulder.  This heartbreaking choice was made time and time again until a few active parents made it their mission to develop community based services so that family members could remain close to home.  Out of this vision was born Eastern Montana Industries (EMI), a regional non-profit program designed specifically to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.

A lot has happened since 1971.  Community based services for individuals with disabilities can now be found throughout Montana, and the state institution at Boulder has been reduced from housing thousands of individuals with disabilities to less than 150.  However, much work remains.  EMI is not a state agency, and as a private, non-profit we struggle financially to meet all of the many needs of the individuals we provide services to.   Whether it be profound physical or mental disabilities, or challenging behavioral issues, we are continually pressed to meet the needs of the persons we serve.

EMI is your regional program for adults with disabilities, and whether it is to expand services or improve on existing programs, we need your support to keep our programs strong and viable.  Please know that your contribution will directly impact the quality of life for the individuals we serve.   As a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit, your contribution is deductible as allowable under IRS regulations.
